Grand Canyon Collection
Design: Timo Ripatti
The classic-style, architectonic Grand Canyon sofa system includes a wide range of sofa and seating modules. The relatively plain basic pieces can be used to build entities suitable for different spaces and needs.
Grand Canyon’s clear design language does not limit the choice of upholstery materials, so the modules can be upholstered as required for each place of use.
The collection was originally designed for the Museum of Modern Art in Espoo (EMMA), and it has been developed over the years in line with customer’s needs. Thanks to the option of raising the backrest and armrests, the collection is suitable for use in quiet areas or ad hoc meeting rooms. It is also possible to add a roof to the raised sofa modules, adding a feeling of privacy while damping external noise. Wheels are available for all of the modules, so the sofas are quick and easy to move around and the collection is an excellent choice for flexible premises.
The collection also includes screens, which can be used individually as interior design elements or added seamlessly to various combinations of sofas. There is also a few table options in Grand Canyon collection. Especially the compact “laptop table” is convenient for many kinds of uses.
Thanks to the clear shape of the GRAND CANYON sofa modules, upholstery is possible with a wide range of fabrics and leathers.
Every piece is upholstered separately and this gives an opportunity to play with different colors or even different fabrics.
We co-operate with several high-class manufacturers, e.g. Gabriel, Kvadrat, Svensson and Sørensen. So the available fabric and leather range is extremely wide.
Thanks to the gap between the seat and the backrest – the sofa does not collect dirt.
If required, the sofa can be made with a seating height slightly lower or higher than the normal height.
