Motonet Arena – a modern multi-purpose hall
The 6,000-square-metre multi-purpose hall is the centrepiece of the Mehtimäki Sports Park in Joensuu. It serves the training and competition needs of various indoor sports, as well as the University of Eastern Finland’s physical education facilities.

In addition to the large field area that can be divided into three sections, the arena features Piiroinen-designed stands for around 2,500 spectators and six private suites. The spaces and technology have been carefully designed for versatility, comfort, and to meet the needs of TV production and educational use. Built especially with basketball in mind, the hall is well suited for both international-level games and other major sporting events.
“The stands look stylish and are comfortable to sit in. There was a real need for a new hall and quality seating.”
Johannes Lasaroff
Executive Director, Kataja Basket

Seating at Motonet Arena
The stands were equipped with custom-designed Piiroinen AP Wood seats, featuring birch veneer backrests and upholstered, padded seats for added comfort. In the private suites, seating was completed with Piiroinen AP 19 chairs, fitted with armrests and integrated cup holders.
Easy-to-use telescopic tribune
The telescopic stands along the sides and ends of the arena operate electrically via remote control. When opening or closing the stands, the backrests automatically lift and lower, ensuring effortless and safe operation.
“The arena, built to meet EuroLeague-level standards, has been executed with great taste and high-quality products.”
Tomi Pöllänen
Business Director, Piiroinen
